Real Estate Agents Are A Dime a Dozen, But I am One of a Kind
Real estate agents have one of the lowest professional reputations around, even lower than attorneys (which is saying something!) I think this has something to do with the sizeable commissions which can be earned in real estate, for what seems like relatively little work. (For the record, there's a lot that goes into a successful real estate transaction, and not all transactions are successful...) The low professional reputation of real estate agents may also have to do with the fact that some real estate agents are pushy, over-aggressive, annoying and just plain lazy. Spend a few minutes talking with me and you'll realize that I'm different.

What Makes Me Different
I don't like to harass people or to be pushy. When I set out to work in this business, I promised myself that I would do it in a friendly, relaxed manner or that I wouldn't do it at all. That was several years ago and I'm still here, so I must be doing something right! It helps that I only do real estate part-time. I don't depend on the money I make from real estate to pay my bills. Other than my sense of professional pride and not wanting to waste my time with people who aren't serious about completing a transaction, I won't be offended if you decide not to use my services. Many times, I'll talk through a deal with you for free, just because I enjoy it. Some people see my part-time status as a liability, but I see it as an asset. It allows me the flexibility of choosing to work with people like me who are motivated, upbeat, and enthusiastic instead of having to take on EVERY client that comes through the door. It also allows me to focus my efforts on one or two clients at a time.

Why I Work In This Industry
As a part-time real estate investor, I initially obtained my license in order to be able to handle my own transactions and save myself money. However, in the process I realized that I genuinely, fundamentally enjoy working in real estate! I enjoy showing properties and negotiating on behalf of buyers to get a great price and/or terms for their purchase(s). I enjoy putting together financing for home buyers. I enjoy helping people manage the properties that they already own. And, I enjoy the thrill of listing a property for sale, finding a qualified buyer, and following the transaction to its close. I do real estate because I enjoy it, and because I'm good at it. What better reason could there be?
